Releases the album ‘The Lead and How to Swing It’ for Interscope records. It is produced by Trevor Horn Teddy Riley, Alan Moulder and others. The album yields a smash hit single in ‘If I Only Knew’.
Hosts the First Annual MTV Europe Awards in Berlin at Brandenburg Gate. He also co-hosts the American Music Awards in Los Angeles.
Contributes to The Chieftans’ collaborative project, ‘The Long Black Veil’.
Tom appears at the world-famous Glastonbury Festival to a rave reception.
ITV and VH-1 broadcast Tom’s 6-part special ‘Tom Jones: The Right Time’ looking at the crossover of musical styles in pop.
Tom appears as himself on the hit TV show ‘The Simpsons’
Releases the album ‘Carrying a Torch’ featuring collaborations with old friend Van Morrison.
Collaborates with classic avant-garde techno group ‘Art of Noise’ on Prince’s song ‘Kiss’, a big success on both sides of the Atlantic. The single wins the MTV Breakthrough Video Award, smashing the demographic barrier.
‘A Boy From Nowhere’ is released, the huge success of this beautiful single puts Tom back on top in Britain. The re-release of the classic ‘It’s Not Unusual’ is also a chart topper.
