ONCE THERE WAS A TIME (lyric PETER CALLANDER)

ONCE THERE WAS A TIME I HAD A HEART BUT THAT WAS ONCE UPON A TIME
ONCE YOUR LOVE WAS MINE , I USED TO WAKE UP AND THE WORLD WAS FINE
BUT THEN HE CAME ALONG, HIS FINGERS SNAPPED AND YOU WERE GONE
THO HE HAD EVERYTHING HE WANTED
HE JUST HAD TO TAKE MY LOVE AWAY FROM ME
AND ONCE THERE WAS A TIME
I HAD TO WATCH SOMETHING I PRAYED I’D NEVER SEE
THE GIRL I LOVED SO SLOWLY WALK AWAY FROM ME

TEARS WERE BITTER THEN BUT SOON ENOUGH I LEARNED TO SMILE AGAIN
AND NOW HE’S TIRED OF YOU, HE LEFT YOU LIKE I SAID HE’D DO
YOU’VE LOOKED AROUND AND FOUND YOU’RE ALL ALONE
YOU THINK YOU CAN COME CRAWLING HOME TO ME
AND ONCE THERE WAS A TIME I’D HAVE FORGIVEN YOU
BUT NOW OH CAN’T YOU SEE I’VE LEARNED MY LESSON
THERE WONT BE ANOTHER TIME FR ME

    Hilly:

“That Wonderful Sound” was recorded by Tom in March 1969 and first appeared on the LP, “This Is Tom Jones” that same year. Les Reed who co-wrote “It’s Not Unusual” also contributed to this winner. Not sure if Tom’s version is the original since artists such as John Rowles, Lena Martell and Vince Hill also recorded this song. The 1985 London cd “This Is Tom Jones” also features this track.
