This year, Sky Arts UK will feature some of the most well-known faces from film and theatre in a series of extraordinarily diverse and unique productions.An all-star cast of acclaimed and celebrated talent are set to appear in this new and exclusive comedy and drama strand, Playhouse Presents… beginning in April 2012.
The series involves some of the UK’s greatest writing and directing talent with original and exclusive work by Sandi Toksvig, Will Self, Jim Cartwright (The Rise and Fall of Little Voice) and Matthew Holness (Garth Marenghi). Directors include Mike Barker (A Good Woman), BAFTA award- ‐winner Jeremy Brock (Driving Lessons), Amanda Boyle (Cast- ‐Offs, Misfits) and Iaian Softley (K- ‐Pax).
KING OF THE TEDS (Jim Cartwright) starring Tom Jones is the first drama of the series, which airs on 12th April at 9pm. Tina works part time as a cleaner. Ron’s (Tom Jones) been made redundant by the bottle factory. The lives of this long-term married couple are turned upside-down with the surprise visit of their best friend from the fifties and deep feelings are rekindled. With Tom, Alison Steadman and Brenda Blethyn.
